Letter to the Editor - Are you confident in the decisions our local government is implementing?

Dear Editor, Are you confident in the decisions our local government is implementing? Are the officials transparent about the decisions? Can you hear the discussions easily or at all about very important decisions being made that can affect the viability of your own home, family or neighborhood? Even more important, are there formulated cabal efforts in the decision-making process with a hope to cover over details of important decisions? That is very much contrary to our honest nature we would like to see here in Winneshiek County. Do statements shouted in bolsters such as "We are NOT with you!" by an elected official to his board members a good thing for us voters? Statements such as, "That little bit will not make a difference," when discussing flooding matters to a community that has previously been racked by devastation good for voters that have petitioned and said NO SALE? Do statements like, "It's your own fault when you built or purchased your home that is in a flood area. Buyer beware," tends to get under your skin when flooding has never happened to you in 70 years of your life but did? It is our tough luck! Sell the flood mitigation land to the highest bidder!! Rah Rah. Does it bother you when public officials in a cabal keep details about projects affecting the survivability of your property from the public and have offline discussions unpronounced to the other board members or the public? If these questions bother you, even if you live out there and not near Decorah, please attend the County Supervisors Meetings on Monday mornings at 9:30am in the Courthouse Annex.
