Introducing: The Decorah Rotary Club "Binzebo"

DECORAH, Iowa— Inaugurating the construction of the Decorah Rotary Club "Binzebo", representatives from Rotary, the city, and volunteers convened for a celebration on Tuesday, March 5. The event began at 5:15 pm under the shade of the "binzebo". The newly finished structure, a unique gazebo crafted from pieces of a corrugated galvanized-steel grain bin, is now poised to become the central point of entry for a forthcoming network of bike-optimized trails, interlinking with the park's existing two-mile loop. Situated on Siewers Spring Rd. near the Catholic cemetery, Carlson Park spans 115 acres and was generously donated by the Rick and David Carlson families in 2016. Despite its relatively recent establishment, the park is already a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. To materialize the "binzebo" and kickstart the park's development, the Decorah Rotary Club secured grants and utilized its own funds to donate $12,000 to the project, which was featured at the celebration in the form of an oversized check. The project was a collaborative effort between the Decorah Rotary Club, Decorah Parks and Recreation, Decorah Human Powered Trails, and numerous volunteers and represents a significant collaborative step forward in enhancing recreational opportunities within the community.
