Emergency Management's 2023-2024 Call Report

The number of phone calls received by Winneshiek County Emergency Management can fluctuate from month to month. A snowy or stormy month, for example, can increase a dispatcher's call load as people report accidents, flood risks or storm damage. The 911 Communications Center and Emergency Management closely tracks these patterns, and have shared them for the latest fiscal year, from July 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024. Total calls 42,345 (increase of 557 calls from previous year) Administrative calls: 27,745 (increase of 2,222 calls) 911 calls: 4,668 (no change) Outgoing calls: 9,932 (decrease of 1,665 calls) Calls for service: 14,492 (increase of 578 calls Law enforcement: 13,790 (increase of 736 calls) Fire departments: 272 (decrease of 93 calls) Ambulance/EMS: 2,460 (increase of 198 calls) Emergency management: 94 (increase of 30 calls) Calls for service The Winneshiek County Sheriff received 7,619 calls The Decorah Police Department received 5,771 calls The Calmar Police Department received 400 calls Collectively, calls for law enforcement totaled up to 13,790 calls, and made up 95% of all calls for service (CFS). The Decorah Fire Department received 114 calls Decorah Fire Department Drone received 35 calls The Calmar Fire Department received 34 calls The Fort Atkinson Fire Department received 28 calls The Ossian Fire Department received 22 calls The Ridgeway Fire Department received 12 calls The Castalia Fire Department received 11 calls Collectively, calls for fire departments totaled up to 272 calls, and made up 2% of total CFS. WinnMed received 1,851 calls The Winneshiek County First Responders received 539 calls Ossian Ambulance services received 64 calls Frankville Ambulance services received 6 calls totaling 2,460 calls Collectively, calls for ambulance/EMS services totaled up to 2,460, and made up 17% of total CFS.
