Letter to the Editor - Arrogance of Power

Dear Editor, I have been watching the Winneshiek Board of Supervisors Meetings for many years. Since early 2023 I've followed the current Board, missing only five of the weekly meetings. What I have seen and heard from Supervisors Langreck, Vick, and Kelsay makes me concerned about the future of Winneshiek County. These three men have ignored citizens who have gone to their meetings to bravely speak up and share their concerns. Knowing they already had their minds made up, they could offer no more than offensive, smirking glances. Women in particular have been the victims of this elitism. When the vote was taken on the issue at hand, they revealed an attitude of indifference to the citizens' concerns. Mr. Langreck has often said, "That's my opinion," as if to say he has his mind made up before listening to what the voters of the county have to say. It's well past time for a change of membership on the Board of Supervisors. This November, let's replace Mr. Langreck with someone who values and listens to the voters.
