DECORAH — Today, August 15, registration for fall activities went live on the Parks and Recreation page, and featured a few brand-new activities. Adult Recess For those 21 and older, the "Adult Recess" program is a welcome new addition. Described as an opportunity to "allow adults to be kids," The activity spans 12 weeks, and brings participants a variety of games and competitions, paired with drink and appetizer specials from your favorite local businesses. The parks and Recreation department has partnered with The Landing Market, Pulpit Rock Brewing, Rubaiyat, Toppling Goliath Brewing Company, Dixie's Biergarten and Impact Coffee to rotate the "host" duties for each adult recess. Each location will have a different activity, such as kickball, board games, cornhole or pickleball. Pre-registration is free, but required for each week. The program will meet every Thursday starting September 5, and will run from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Pool Club Another new activity to the lineup is pool. In partnership with the All Vets Club VFW Post 1977, 7th and 8th grade participants can meet in the VFW to learn about all things pool. Participants will compete both in teams and as individuals to receive an education, not only on gameplay, but the history and scoring guidelines of billiards This program runs Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will begin October 5. Registration for each pool player is $30, with a registration deadline coming up on September 27.
