DECORAH — Decorah Parks and Recreation has announced a new, adult-only program that allows adults to be kids. This 12-week series brings friendly competitions through a variety of games while enjoying drink and appetizer specials at local businesses. For the program, Decorah Parks and Recreation has partnered with six different businesses, which will rotate hosting Adult Recess, providing a different location, activity and specials each week. Details for the first two installments in the adult recess program can be found below. Kickball at Toppling Goliath The first adult recess, held on September 5, will be hosted by Toppling Goliath, and will feature the classic game of kickball. Sign up can be found here. A few guidelines should be kept in mind during registration: Must age 21 or older to participate. Max of 12 players per team. Teams can be any combination of men and women. No more than 10 players on the field, with unlimited substitution. Team registration should be completed prior to the activity, and emailed to parkrec@decorah.iowa.gov.Teams can be filled out here. Players should meet at the Decorah slow pitch fields for a 5:00 p.m. start time. Kickball will run for one hour before participants can head over to toppling Goliath to enjoy half off AIM Elevated ale pints and appetizers. Participants who provide a valid ID at activity will receive a wristband which will allow you to receive food or beverage promotions provided by the host. Cornhole at Impact CoffeeThe second installment of the adult recess series, held on September 12, will be hosted by Impact Coffee and feature cornhole games. Sign up can be found here. A few guidelines should be kept in mind during registration: Must be age 21 or older to participate. Max of 2 players per team. Teams can be any combination of men and women. Players should meet at Impact Coffee for a 5:00 p.m. start time. Cornhole will be played along Washington Street, right next to Impact to allow convenient play and drink access. Participants who provide a valid ID will receive a wristband which will allow you to receive food or beverage promotions provided by the host. Never a dull moment!
