New Business, Familiar Faces: DuTrac Credit Union Unveils Decorah Location

DECORAH — DuTrac Community Credit Union officially opened the doors to its newly-remodeled branch at 915 Short Street in Decorah at 2:17 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17. The grand opening event was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, where DuTrac's leadership and the chamber ambassadors gathered to celebrate the milestone alongside local residents, businesses and community members. Mayor Lorraine Borowski began the ceremony by welcoming DuTrac to Decorah. Borowski was followed by President and CEO of DuTrac, Andy Hawkinson. "There's a lot of communities that we serve, and a lot of them are small. Our members there really enjoy our presence, and we hope that translates to the same thing here in Decorah," Hawkinson said. Hawkinson was joined by Decorah Branch Manager Aaron Steffens, who began his role with DuTrac on June 26. "But, I am no stranger to Decorah, by any means," Steffans said. "I've lived in the Decorah community for the last seventeen plus years." Newly-hired employees of the Decorah branch were also on hand to meet community members and share information about the credit union's range of personal and business banking services. Attendees toured the renovated branch space, enjoyed treats from Kozi Pie Shoppe and learned more about DuTrac's financial products. The grand opening festivities extend throughout the week, offering opportunities for locals to visit the branch and participate in activities. Door prize entries will remain open through Friday, with various giveaways available for those who stop by. On Wednesday afternoon, DuTrac is hosting a family-friendly event featuring "Sunny the Savasaurus," the mascot of DuTrac's kids' savings program, The Savasaurus Kids Club. Children under 12 are encouraged to visit the branch from 3-5 p.m. to take photos with Sunny and learn how they can start saving early through the club's initiatives. The celebration continues Thursday morning with a visit from Mill Street Mocha, a local coffee shop, offering complimentary Strawberry Fields drinks to visitors starting at 8:30 a.m. The drinks will be available while supplies last.
