Decorah Human Powered Trails Awarded Grant to Repair Trail Bridges

DECORAH — Decorah Human Powered Trails (DHPT) has announced that they have been awarded a $15,000 grant through Athletic Brewing Company's "Two for the Trails" program. This partial funding will help support DHPT's efforts to enhance and maintain local trails. "DHPT volunteers continually work hard to clear downed trees, remove invasive species, and maintain the trails around Decorah. We're grateful for this grant, which will help fund bridge projects like repairing the ones on Larson's Loop," shared DHPT President Nick Pearch. "For the first time in our history, Athletic Brewing will donate $2 million in a single year through our "Two For The Trails" program, supporting a wide range of outdoor projects across the U.S., UK, and Canada. This essential funding will directly benefit the environment and communities where our customers live, work, and adventure, helping to protect, enhance, and sustain outdoor spaces for generations to come. We aim to provide safe, equitable access to the great outdoors and look forward to seeing the transformative impact of these projects," said Athletic Brewing Company's B Corp. and "Two For The Trails" Manager Cara Wilson. DHPT will receive the funds in December. Work will begin once the ground thaws in 2025. Any bridge work will be signed and announced on the DHPT Facebook page.
