CRESCO, Iowa — Hawkeye Sanitation and Recycling has informed inform residents of Cresco and Rural Howard and Winneshiek counties about adjusted garbage and recycling collection schedules during the upcoming holidays. Cresco ResidentsTuesday, December 24: Garbage and recycling routes will be collected on Monday, December 23.Wednesday, December 25: Garbage and recycling routes will be collected on Thursday, December 26.Wednesday, January 1: Garbage routes will be collected on Tuesday, December 31. Rural Howard & Winneshiek Residents (Including Ft. Atkinson & Protivin)Tuesday, December 24: Garbage routes, including Ft. Atkinson, will be collected on Monday, December 23.Wednesday, December 25: Garbage routes, including Protivin, will be collected on Monday, December 30.Wednesday, January 1: Garbage routes will be collected on Monday, January 6. Rural Site pickup in Lime Springs is scheduled for Tuesday, December 24, with limited operating hours from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Important RemindersCardboard is banned from the landfill and must not be placed in the garbage. Failure to comply may result in higher landfill tonnage rates, which could lead to an increase in your garbage rates. Please recycle cardboard to keep costs down and garbage clean. Non-Recyclable Holiday Items The following items are not recyclable and must be disposed of in your garbage: Wrapping paper Gift bags Plastic wrappings Styrofoam Bubble wrap Bag and tie these materials to reduce debris and ensure cleaner waste disposal.
