DECORAH — The following arrest was reported by The Decorah Police Department on Monday, December 23. On December 22, at approximately 5:56 p.m., Decorah Officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance near the 300 block of East Main Street in Decorah. The caller advised that he had been assaulted by his girlfriend and would remain outside until the arrival of law enforcement. Dispatchers also advised that the suspect in the domestic disturbance, LAUREN POYE, 41, of Decorah, also repeatedly dialed 911 with no emergency to report. The criminal complaint states that during these calls, Poye was "harassing the dispatch center with abusive comments and insults." Upon arrival, the officers made an effort to speak with Poye regarding the domestic incident, but she had barricaded herself within the apartment and would not answer the door. Secondary means were utilized to gain entry into the apartment and Poye was taken into custody. While taking Poye into custody, two officers were both verbally harassed and physically assaulted, resulting in only minor injuries. Poye was transported to the Winneshiek County Jail and charged with domestic abuse (simple misdemeanor), harassment in the 1st degree (aggravated misdemeanor), criminal mischief in the 5th degree (simple misdemeanor), removing radio communication device from officer (serious misdemeanor), assault on a peace officer with no injury (serious misdemeanor), assault on a peace officer resulting in injury (aggravated misdemeanor), misuse of 911 communications (class D felony), harassment in the 3rd degree (simple misdemeanor).
