Support Local Eateries: Decorah Restaurant Week Brings Exclusive Specials to Town

DECORAH — The Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce has announced that it will host the 2nd annual Decorah Restaurant Week this January 20-26. Residents are encouraged to support their favorite local eateries, try new ones, and revisit ones they haven't been to in a while. Visitors are encouraged to use this event as an opportunity to schedule a date night out in Decorah, Iowa. Twenty-two Decorah Area restaurant locations are participating in this year's event—with specials, discounts, and exclusive entrees that are only available for a short time. People can expect special fixed price menus at Rubaiyat Restaurant, Twin Springs Supper Club, and La Rana Bistro. These fixed price menus are a great way to enjoy fine dining at an affordable set price. Several restaurant locations will use the week to launch a new dish or try something for the first time. King Pin Entertainment will have steak bites and a butterfly shrimp platter. Don Jose's Mexican Restaurant will feature Sopa de Albondiga (Mexican Meatball Soup)—a homemade favorite of the family which is being brought to the restaurant as a week-long special. Oneota Food Cooperative will do their fan-favorite Falafel Hot Sandwich for the entire week—a special usually reserved for Friday only. Blazing Star will host two "Noodle Nights" with a special noodle menu. La Rana Owner Carina Cavagnaro said that she is looking forward to the week. "Last year we saw visitors coming to town from Rochester and LaCrosse specifically for Restaurant Week. We are already receiving calls for reservations for this year - even before we had released our menu." The Chamber says this event was started specifically to boost restaurants during a slow time of year. "Our restaurants are anchor businesses that bolster the community's tourism experience and add vibrancy to the Decorah Area," says Chamber Director Jessica Rilling, "Restaurant Week is a chance to tell them 'Thank You for all they do AND enjoy a delicious meal. Supporting local doesn't get easier than that. Let someone else do the dishes and support our small businesses."
