Failure to Yield Contributed to Maryville Street Collision On January 23 at 11:56 a.m., 81-year-old Ruth Bily of Calmar, Iowa was traveling southbound on Maryville St. following another vehicle. Bily turned left onto South Street, failing to yield to northbound traffic. At the time, Twenty-year-old Alexandra Irwin of Decorah, Iowa was northbound on Maryville St. when Bily turned in front of her, causing a collision. As a result of the impact, Bily's vehicle sustained damage to the front right fender, door and wheel. Irwin had damage to the front right fender, grill, bumper and hood. No injuries were reported after the accident. Semi Involved in January 24 Highway 150 Mishap On January 24 at 9:59 a.m., 61-year-old John Meyer of Rollingstone, Minn. was southbound on Highway 150 and was going to turn left onto 110th St. Meyer did not realize that another vehicle, driven by 34-year-old Donald Mammoser of Hamlet, Ind. had begun to pass him in the passing zone. Mammoser stated that Meyer had his blinker on to turn right and was only going 40 to 45 mph, so he had moved over to pass in the passing zone. Then, Meyer turned left instead of right. Mammoser tried to avoid contact by moving left, but a collision became unavoidable. Meyer stated that he had his blinker on to turn left and when he began turning left he realized there was a semi passing. As a result of the contact, Meyer's vehicle had damage to the front driver's wheel area, and Mammoser had damage to the passenger side of the semi along with some damage to the trailer. The passenger side fuel tank on Mammoser's semi was also punctured. Stay ahead of the curve!
