Energy Savings Made Easy: Free Assessments and Incentives Available for Allamakee Residents

ALLAMAKEE COUNTY — The Allamakee Energy District (AED) is offering free energy assessments to low-income households in Allamakee County. In addition, AED is able to provide a $2,500 financial incentive for qualifying homeowners to implement energy-efficienct measures identified by the assessment. For households with a household income that is at or below 80% of the area median household income (AMI), the $2,500 incentive can be applied to 100% of the cost of materials and professional labor. However, it can't exceed the total cost of the installed energy efficiency improvements identified by the energy assessment. For households with a household income above 80% and up to 120% of AMI, the $2,500 incentive can be applied to 50% of the cost of materials and professional labor associated with the installed energy efficiency improvements identified by the energy assessment. The energy efficiency improvements must be based on recommendations from an energy assessment arranged through Allamakee Energy District, resulting in energy reduction and cost savings. Possible measures include insulation and air sealing, energy-efficient appliances like water heaters, furnaces, and heat pumps. Improvements could potentially include exterior doors and windows. Required documentation must be submitted within 30 days of implementation of recommended improvements. The $2,500 incentives are available on a first-come, first-served basis until available funds are expended.
