Castalia Man Arrested After Discharging Firearm During Domestic Altercation

The following arrest was reported by The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, February 19 On February 17, 2025, around 11 p.m., deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence on 134th Ave near Castalia, Iowa. According to the official criminal complaint obtained by DecorahNews.com, while law enforcement attempted to "calm down the situation" they were made aware of a police report that had been made several days prior. The report alleges that MATTHEW ZWEIBOHMER, 49, of Castalia, Iowa had gotten into an argument with the victim and later "fired a round from his handgun into the wall, approximately 15 feet from where she was standing." The complaint explains that the "bullet hole was still in the garage over a week later" when deputies arrived on February 17. Following an investigation into the incident by the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office, charges were filed, and an arrest warrant and search warrant were issued.
