Christina Clancy Celebrating Her New Novel, 'The Snowbirds'

DECORAH — Madison author Christina Clancy will give an author presentation, reading, and Q&A session followed by a book signing on Monday, March 3, at 7 p.m. in the Pulpit Rock Brewing events room at 207 College Dr., Decorah Iowa. Everyone is invited to this free event sponsored by the Oneota Valley Literary Foundation, with support from Pulpit Rock Brewing and Dragonfly Books. The exhilarating, but often confusing transitions of midlife are pitched against the promise and glamour of Palm Springs in The Snowbirds—a tender, honest story of what it takes to commit to someone for a lifetime. Together for thirty years, Kim and Grant face the challenges of late middle age: loss, career changes and an empty nest. Seeking a fresh start, they escape a Midwestern winter for the sunny allure of Palm Springs and the quirky Le Desert condo community. While Kim embraces new friendships and self-discovery, Grant struggles to adjust, straining their relationship. When Grant goes missing on a hike, Kim confronts the possibility of loss—or abandonment. Set against the vibrant backdrop of Palm Springs, this tender, humorous story explores midlife reinvention, the complexities of lifelong commitment, and the power of rediscovery. Christina Clancy, born in Denver and raised in Milwaukee, graduated from the University of Minnesota, worked at IBM, and later earned a PhD in creative writing from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She taught English at Beloit College for a decade before becoming a full-time writer. Her novels have been featured on Good Morning America, CNN, Travel & Leisure and more, while her short stories and essays have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and various literary journals. Living in Madison, Christina enjoys snowbirding in Palm Springs, practicing yoga, swimming and visiting book clubs.
