Newly Formed Decorah Area Mountain Bike Team (DIRT) Invites Riders of All Ages to Join

DECORAH — The Decorah Area Mountain Bike Team, also known as DIRT (Decorah Iowa Racing Team), is excited to announce its formation and welcome riders of all skill levels from Kindergarten through 12th grade. This all-volunteer club is dedicated to helping young riders explore the scenic trails of Decorah while developing biking skills in a supportive team environment. League Registration Now OpenTo participate in practices or races, all riders and volunteer coaches must register with the Iowa Scholastic Mountain Bike League. League registration is $25 per rider to cover insurance and league costs. Riders can register now at: www.bikereg.com/ismtbl-2025join Once registered, participants must email their payment confirmation to decorahmountainbiketeam@gmail.com and download the SPOND App for team communication. Race Registration & ScheduleRacing is optional, but for those interested, races require advance registration via BikeReg.com. Varsity, JV, and Middle School races cost $40 each or $200 for all six races (one free). Elementary races are $15 each. 2025 Race Schedule: May 17 – Fort Dodge May 31 – Decorah June 7 – Des Moines (Banner Trails) June 14 – Quad Cities (Scott County Park) June 21 – Cedar Rapids (Wanatee) June 28 – Dubuque Financial assistance is available for riders who qualify for free/reduced lunch. Practices Begin March 26DIRT practices will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-7:00 p.m., with the first session on Wednesday, March 26. Practice locations and weather updates will be communicated via SPOND. Safety & EquipmentRiders must have a well-maintained bike, helmet, riding gloves, safety eyewear and a full water bottle.
