FRANKVILLE, Iowa — The Frankville Community Presbyterian Church will host its annual Pie and Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, June 25, from 4:30 to 7 p.m., featuring live musical entertainment by local performer Mike McAbee. Meals will be served for $12 and include maid-rites, potato salad, orange tapioca salad, pies and angel food cake, ice cream, and beverages. Dine-in and carry-out options are available. The church is handicapped accessible and air conditioned. The social, organized by the Frankville Presbyterian Women (PW), is the group's sole fundraiser and supports a wide range of mission projects and church activities throughout the year. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy an evening of food, fellowship, and live music. The Frankville PW group, comprised of six active members, meets regularly for Bible study and community outreach. Monthly donations support individuals and organizations locally and beyond. The group also assembles and distributes a variety of mission items including school supplies, baby layettes, fleece blankets, t-shirt diapers and shorts, pillowcase dresses, plarn mats, hygiene kits, fleece scarves, quilted hearts, tote bags and fabric kits. Annual events hosted by the group include an area women's coffee, a community Trunk-or-Treat, and Christmas food baskets for elderly members of the congregation. The Frankville PW has also hosted semi-annual gatherings of the John Knox Presbyterian Women, which includes churches from northeast Iowa, southeast Minnesota, and southwest Wisconsin. In June, members will travel to Watertown, South Dakota, to attend the Synod Triennial Gathering under the theme "Let Your Light Shine."
