Decorah Man Arrested for Alleged $14K Truck Theft and Facebook Sale Scheme

On June 21, SHANE ENGELHARDT, 23, of Decorah, Iowa was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail on three arrest warrants for Theft 1st - General $10,000+, Violation of Pre-Trial Supervision and Failure to provide fingerprints. According to the official criminal complaint obtained by DecorahNews.com, in early May, Engelhardt allegedly agreed to pay $14,000 for a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado. However, the complaint states that no payments were ever made for the vehicle, despite being instructed to either make payment or return it during May and early June. The complaint further alleges that Engelhardt used a third party's Facebook account to list the vehicle for sale, despite having no legal right to do so. He then allegedly sold the rims and tires without authorization and stored the vehicle at a friend's house—actions that, according to the complaint, indicate an intent to permanently deprive the rightful owner of the property. Engelhardt also has a prior conviction for fifth-degree theft in Buchanan County, Iowa, dated March 7, 2024. On June 24, NICOLE JIRAK, 39, of Decorah, Iowa was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail on two arrest warrants for failure to appear. On June 19, While incarcerated in the Winneshiek County Jail, RAYMOND DELAGARZA, 41, of Decorah, Iowa had contact with the protected party of his no contact order.
