OSSIAN — The City of Ossian and the Ossian Crown Club have announced the lineup for the 2025 Summer Performances at the Ossian Educational and Performance Pavilion, promising a season of music, theater, and community celebration. Located in Carey's Park, the pavilion has become one of Iowa's premier outdoor performance venues. The season officially opened on Sunday, June 22, with a showing of Moana 2 at 8 p.m., sponsored by the City of Ossian and the Ossian Crown Club. South Winn. Theater Takes the Stage For the first time, South Winneshiek High School students will perform on the pavilion stage, bringing the interactive mystery-comedy Holy Mother of BINGO to life. Set in a local church basement, the production features real bingo games and audience participation. Sweet treats including ice cream, brownies, and cake will also be available. Performances are scheduled for: Friday, June 27 at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 28 at 7 p.m. Sunday, June 29 at 2 p.m. (at South Winneshiek High School Auditorium in Calmar) Admission is $5 to help cover production royalties. The play is sponsored by Shelly and Clark Goltz. In case of rain, the Friday and Saturday performances will also be moved to the high school auditorium. Celebrating Scandinavian Culture Closing out the premier week, the Norwegian Bachelor Farmers, featuring Kyle Elsbernd and Dave Kirkeby, will perform on Sunday, June 29, at 5 p.m. The duo, known for their humorous and heartfelt blend of Scandinavian music and storytelling, has entertained audiences for more than 20 years. Elsbernd, a Decorah native, studied Norwegian at both Decorah High School and Luther College and spent a year abroad in Norway, where he began translating traditional Norwegian folk music. Kirkeby, also from Decorah, recently returned to Iowa after two decades in Arizona and brings his expertise as a guitarist to the performance. Live Music Throughout the Summer Throughout July, the pavilion will host a wide variety of live performances from regional artists, including: Mike McAbee Kris Karr Beau Timmerman The Bruce Barringer Band Angela Meyer The Driftless Duo (featuring Bree and Kate) Woodshed Reboot Ossian's 175th Anniversary Celebration The City of Ossian will mark its 175th Anniversary August 8–10 with a three-day celebration featuring live music and special events. Scheduled performers include: Bad Dog 20/20 Jason Woods Steve Schroeder Cory Farley, a fan favorite returning to the pavilion stage August Finale The summer season wraps up in August with a live open mic night, a special appearance by Christian musician and songwriter Steve Angrisano, and a showing of the family favorite film Jumanji.
