DECORAH — Winneshiek County 4-H members showcased their talents during the annual Clothing, Foods, and Communications Day, held Wednesday, June 18, at Decorah Lutheran Church. The event began with clothing judging, where youth participated in categories such as Fashion Revue, Clothing Selection, the $20 Challenge, and Innovative Design. Senior 4-H members (grades 9–12) are eligible to advance to the Iowa 4-H Awardrobe Clothing Event at the 2025 Iowa State Fair. The following members were selected to advance: Kelsey Timp, Jadrienne Langreck (two outfits), Anders Wicklund, Addison Wicklund, Grace Baker, and Kamryn Bakken. Alternate selections include Jadrienne Langreck (two outfits), Jayden Timp, and Kamryn Bakken. In the foods division, participants were challenged to plan a well-balanced meal, prepare a menu item, and present a place setting. Adam Schmitt, Harrison Schmitt, Genevieve Melcher, Henry Schmitt, Annabelle Baker, and Karlee Bullerman received "Possible State Fair" ribbons for their efforts. Throughout the day, a variety of communications events were held, including Extemporaneous Speaking, Share the Fun, Educational Presentations, and Working Exhibits. Advancing to the Iowa State Fair in Extemporaneous Speaking are Eden Scheidel and Karlee Bullerman, with Lauren Holthaus named as an alternate. In Educational Presentations, state fair selections included Adam Schmitt, Addison Wicklund, Anders Wicklund, Harrison Schmitt, Rylee Averhoff, and Caylie Adam. Lydia Fankhauser earned alternate honors. In the Share the Fun division, Rylee Averhoff (dance), Lucas Fankhauser (piano solo), and the skit "100 Year Celebration" by South County Innovators 4-H Club members—Henry, Adam and Harrison Schmitt, Grace Baker, and Annabelle Baker—were selected for state fair performances. Alternate recognitions went to Jorgan and Magnus Lee-Juve, Jorgan Lee-Juve (solo), and Lucas Schatz. The day concluded with Working Exhibits, where youth presented hands-on demonstrations. Advancing to the Iowa State Fair are Rylee Averhoff; Jaylah Dodd; Caylie Adam; and Addison and Anders Wicklund. Alternates include Jennessa Kane; Leo Johnson; Grace Baker and Amara Schmitt; Henry, Adam, and Harrison Schmitt; and Brinley and Eloise Lechtenberg. Stay ahead of the curve!
