A Star-Spangled Saturday: Spillville's July 5 Celebration Promises Fireworks and Fun

SPILLVILLE — A full day of family fun, live music and fireworks is planned for Saturday, July 5, as Spillville hosts its annual Independence Day celebration at Riverside Park and The Inwood. Gates open at noon with $5 admission per person, $5 per car. No outside alcohol, kegs or personal fireworks will be permitted on the grounds. Events include: 8:00 a.m. – Spillville Fireworks 5K Fun Run (check-in at St. Wenceslaus School parking lot, 208 Church St.) $20 per individual, with one form per entrant. Extra forms are available at Citizens Savings Bank in Spillville. 12:00 p.m. – Food served inside The Inwood, hosted by the American Legion & Auxiliary Post 467. 4:00 p.m. – The Old Time Community Band performance 5:00 p.m. – Free watermelon and root beer hosted by the St. Wenceslaus Ladies Guild 5:30 p.m. – Bingo inside the Inwood Ballroom hosted by the Civic Improvement Association. 6:00-9:00 p.m. – Live music on the outdoor Ludwig Stage featuring Volson and Ramblin' Ryne & the Jones 9:30 p.m. – Northeast Iowa's Greatest Fireworks Show, synchronized to music on KNEI 103.5 Bluff Country Additional activities throughout the afternoon and evening include a baseball doubleheader (Calmar Cats vs. Fort Atkinson Mallards), food trucks, bounce houses, games, and a blackout DJ performance on the ballfield.
