DECORAH — SERVPRO of Decorah and owners Scott and Libby Demuth have donated $3,000 to support Aase Haugen's capital campaign for a new state-of-the-art nursing and assisted living facility in Decorah. The Demuths purchased the SERVPRO franchise in 2020 and opened their new office and warehouse on Montgomery Street in Decorah in 2023. "We are excited to connect to the community in meaningful ways," Scott Demuth said. "This project is a very important health care option for Decorah, and we're pleased to give a boost to their capital campaign." Aase Haugen's capital campaign, titled "A New Place to Call Home," has already garnered $1 million in community support. While the remaining $2 million shortfall has been filled to move the project forward, further community contributions are encouraged. "Fortunately, businesses like SERVPRO of Decorah recognize the value we bring to the community and have generously chosen to participate in the fundraising," said Sam Boeke, executive director of Aase Haugen. The new 72,000-square-foot facility, located on the existing Aase Haugen campus—Highland Drive, Nordic Drive, and Glen Barth Circle—is scheduled for structural completion in November 2025, with residents expected to move in shortly thereafter. The facility will continue Aase Haugen's mission as a continuing care retirement community, offering all levels of care for older adults. The organization reports that the current building on Ohio Street will be vacated, and developers are being sought for the 7-acre site within the Decorah city limits. "The very people we take care of today are the ones who built our community and made it the incredible place it is today," said Steve Langland, president of the board of directors. "It's a critical service we're providing to not only those seniors but also their families, and we invite the community to support this effort."
