This year's expanded event will connect readers with 45 independent bookstores across the state, celebrating Iowa's vibrant literary culture while also supporting local economies. The tour showcases the diverse character of Iowa's independent bookstores, from cozy neighborhood nooks to bustling city hubs, each offering curated selections and personalized service. A local feature on the tour is Dragonfly Books in Decorah, a general-interest independent bookstore that has been a gathering place for readers since 2011. Known for its thoughtful selection of books, Dragonfly Books and its nonprofit arm, the Oneota Valley Literary Foundation, host regular events and book signings that bring together local authors, literary enthusiasts and the broader community. Just down the street, visitors can also explore Dragonfly's sister store, The Silver Birch, an ecumenical Christian bookstore in Decorah that offers a carefully curated selection of books, gifts, Bibles, cards and church supplies. The store carries items for various life events, including baptisms, confirmations, graduations, weddings, and anniversaries.
