DECORAH — On Tuesday, two dedicated young women added another accolade to their long list of achievements as Rylee Averhoff was crowned the 2025 Winneshiek County Fair Queen and Karlie Einck was named Fair Princess during the fair's Opening Ceremony. Averhoff and Einck have spent years building resumes rooted in agriculture, leadership, and community service—making their recognition a fitting reflection of the values the fair celebrates. Rylee Averhoff Crowned 2025 Winneshiek County Fair QueenAt the grandstand, Rylee Averhoff was crowned the 2025 Winneshiek County Fair Queen during the fair's Opening Ceremony. The honor is a culmination of years of dedication to 4-H, FFA, athletics and community service for the Decorah High School senior. The 17-year-old daughter of Forry and Amy Averhoff of Decorah, Rylee will be entering her final year at Decorah High School this fall. Her resume is a reflection of hard work and heart: she's active in swimming, diving, bowling, tennis, gymnastics and Just For Kix. She's also a long-time member of the Hesper Helpers 4-H Club, a leader in the Decorah FFA Chapter, and part of the Winneshiek County 4-H Council. Outside of school and fairgrounds, Rylee works as a lifeguard at the Decorah Pool and is a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. She enjoys spending time with her goats, hunting and fishing, dancing, bowling and playing pickleball and tennis with friends and family. Her future plans include graduating from Decorah High School in May 2026 and pursuing a cosmetology license—though it's clear her leadership and passion could take her in many directions. Averhoff's crowning comes with added distinction this year: she also earned third place in the Senior Division of the Bill Riley Talent Search for her dance performance, showing the same confidence and poise on stage that she's known for in the show ring and classroom. Joining her on the royal court is Karlie Einck, named 2025 Winneshiek County Fair Princess. Karlie Einck, the 2025 Winneshiek County Fair Princess With a bright smile, Karlie Einck was crowned the 2025 Winneshiek County Fair Princess, joining newly-crowned Fair Queen Averhoff on this year's royal court. Einck, the 17-year-old daughter of Ryan and Michelle Einck of Decorah, will begin her senior year at Decorah High School this fall. A familiar face around the fairgrounds, Einck has spent years deeply involved in 4-H, FFA, and has assumed a variety of leadership roles that reflect her strong sense of service. She is the current secretary of the Glenwood 4-H Club and an active member of the Decorah FFA Chapter. Her leadership extends beyond agriculture, serving on the Decorah Student Leadership Committee and the Winneshiek County 4-H Council. She also volunteers as a Sunday School teacher at Glenwood Lutheran Church. In addition to her leadership and service, Einck brings a wide range of interests to her role as Fair Princess. She competes on Decorah's high school bowling team and enjoys showing sheep and chickens at the fair. When she's not in the barn or at the bowling alley, she's likely spending time with friends, babysitting, or helping around the family farm.
