DES MOINES, Iowa — A familiar face from northeast Iowa took center stage at the Iowa State Fairgrounds Wednesday night as Kelsey Timp of Ossian was crowned the 72nd Iowa Dairy Princess. Timp, 18, represented Winneshiek County in the statewide contest and will now serve as a goodwill ambassador for Iowa's dairy industry over the next year. She also earned the title of Miss Congeniality. The daughter of Brett and Robin Timp, Kelsey is a 2024 graduate of South Winneshiek High School and will begin her freshman year at Iowa State University this fall, studying agricultural communications and agricultural business. A lifelong advocate for agriculture, Kelsey grew up surrounded by the hard work and values of the dairy community. Now, she'll spend the year traveling the state promoting Iowa dairy farmers, educating consumers, and representing the people and products that help feed families every day. The Iowa Dairy Princess Program is organized by Midwest Dairy and evaluates candidates based on their communication skills, knowledge of the dairy industry, and ability to serve as advocates for agriculture. Thirteen candidates participated in this year's contest. Joining Timp is Iowa Dairy Princess Alternate Alia Domeyer of Delhi, a sophomore studying finance and marketing at the University of Northern Iowa. The two will officially begin their duties on September 1. Outgoing Princess Haley Ronnebaum pass the crown to Timp at the end of the month. Feed your curiosity!
