Flooding Prompts Road and Business Closures Across Winneshiek County

WINNESHIEK COUNTY, Iowa — Heavy rainfall has led to rising water levels and multiple closures across Winneshiek County Monday morning, with county officials urging residents to avoid flooded areas. Road closures reported so far include: Twin Springs Road County Road B16 east of Protivin 318th Avenue by Harvest Farms Campground County Road W14 near Coldwater Creek Road 250th Street between County Road W14 and 270th Avenue Trail closures: Portions of the Trout Run Trail between Wold Park and Dug Road are under water. Barricades are in place, and trail users are asked to abide by posted signage until the areas are safe again. Due to the closure, Trout Run Trail Tour Day has been postponed to Aug. 26. Storm damage and flooding have left additional parks closed, including: Twin Springs Park (Bridge damage), Dunnings Spring Park, Will Baker Park, Archery Range, Van Peenen Park, Wold Park, Trout Run Park and Dug Road (closed to bikers) Business closures: WinnMed Pharmacy is closed this morning until at least noon due to water issues. The facility will reassess at that time and provide updates. Kendallville Campground is closed until further notice. Sandbagging: The City of Spillville has begun producing sandbags for anyone in need. Bags are available for pickup at the city shop in Spillville. Once production there is complete, the machine will be moved to Freeport to continue operations. Residents are reminded not to drive through flooded roadways and to use alternate routes.
