'Workers Over Billionaires' Rally Planned for Labor Day in Decorah

DECORAH — Community members will gather at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, in front of the Winneshiek County Courthouse, 204 W. Broadway St., for a Labor Day rally focused on supporting working families and strengthening local communities. Organizers said the event is intended to highlight the importance of fair treatment for workers and to encourage public investment in people and communities. "Working people are the backbone of this country," organizers said. "This rally is about bringing people together to share ideas, build connections and work toward a stronger future." The event will include featured speakers and opportunities for attendees to connect and take action. Local organizations will provide information, resources and ways to get involved, and materials will be available for community members to take home. An interactive art project will invite participants to add their voices to the day's message. Donations of canned and nonperishable goods will be accepted for the Decorah Food Pantry. The Workers Over Billionaires Rally is sponsored by Iowa 50501, DCIR, Effigy Mounds National Monument in support of NPS and Public Lands Protections, Indivisible and the Winneshiek County Democrats.
