Decorah 2025 Heivly Street Improvements to Occur East of Mill Street

DECORAH – Pavement removals on Heivly Street between the fire station and Mechanic Street are scheduled to begin Monday, Sept. 8, with utility work to follow. Motorists will need to use Water Street or Iowa 9 to travel across Decorah while Skyline's pipe crew moves east of Mill Street and Wicks Construction repaves the west two blocks of Heivly Street. Access to local businesses is as follows: Post Office: River Street entrance open, with onsite rerouting to exit on Day Spring Lane. Drive-thru bank: Entrance and exit via Day Spring Lane, with onsite rerouting to teller windows. Fridley Theater: Access parking lot through south drive. Decorah Cleaners: Limited access via Mechanic Street until Mill Street reopens to north-south traffic during the week of Sept. 22. King Pin Bowling Alley: Limited access via Mechanic Street until Mill Street reopens to north-south traffic during the week of Sept. 22. Army Reserve Center: Access from Goose Island Drive and temporary crushed rock between parking lots at City Hall and the Army Reserve Center. City Hall: Access north parking lot from Goose Island Drive. Fire Station: Ingress and egress via Goose Island Drive. Alliant and Mediacom crews will continue converting overhead utilities to underground conduits through early October. Completion of the 2025 Heivly Street improvements is expected in mid-November.
