WinnMed to Host Annual Community Picnic and Clinic Open House October 8

DECORAH — WinnMed invites the public to a combined grand community picnic and clinic open house on Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at its main campus in Decorah. Free Community Picnic Attractions: BBQ pork sandwich catered by U2 BBQ, chips and water Game/activity area for kids, including a sand area Popcorn from the Lion's Club Live music by Mike McAbee Bingo with prizes Hands-Only CPR training sessions, sponsored by the WinnMed Foundation and the Dr. Kevin Locke EMS Provider Endowment Fund Sugar Bowl ice cream will also be available for purchase throughout the evening. Steve Slessor, Chief Administrative Officer of WinnMed says, "This year, we've combined our Grand Community Picnic with an open house to recognize two important things: the incredible support we've received from the community, and the completion of a major construction project. We know the construction process hasn't been easy—for our patients, our staff, or our visitors—and we're grateful for everyone's patience. We're excited to finally share the new space and showcase all the ways it will improve the experience and care we provide moving forward." WinnMed clinic open house In addition to the picnic activities, attendees can take a guided tour of WinnMed's clinic. The newly expanded clinic—the third completed phase in the Transforming Tomorrow initiative — is designed to elevate patient care and provider collaboration. Doubling the size of the previous space, the clinic reflects WinnMed's commitment to meeting the growing healthcare needs of the community. Key features and benefits Enhanced patient experience: The clinic uses an innovative "on stage/off stage" layout, separating public and staff areas. Patients benefit from dedicated external hallways for easier navigation and privacy, while providers and staff work in internal collaborative spaces designed for efficiency and teamwork. Modern, welcoming environment: With patient-friendly layouts, contemporary finishes and a rotating art wall featuring local artists, the space fosters comfort, inspiration and community collaboration. Expanded services: The clinic expansion accommodates WinnMed's growing services, including primary care and specialists in rheumatology, urology, allergy, general surgery, OB-GYN, ENT, audiology, orthopedics and sports medicine, podiatry and dermatology, ensuring more comprehensive care close to home.
