Decorah Child Development to Participate in Child and Adult Care Food Program

DECORAH — Decorah Child Development has been named at a participant in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Meals will be provided at no separate charge to enrolled participants at Decorah Child Development and the following regional Head Start programs: Cresco Head Start Monona Head Start New Hampton Head Start Oelwein Head Start Postville Head Start in Child Development Waukon Head Start Waverly Head Start Children in households receiving benefits from the Family Investment Program (FIP) or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and children who are Head Start participants, are automatically eligible to receive free meals. Adult care participants who are members of SNAP households or who receive (SSI) or Medicaid are also automatically eligible for free meal benefits. Eligibility for free and reduced-price meals is based on household size and income. Each year, the USDA issues updated Income Eligibility Guidelines (IEGs), which are used to determine whether participants qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Families not receiving the above benefits may still qualify for meal assistance if household income is at or below the IEGs.
