Decorah Gear Exchange Returns September 27–28

DECORAH — The Decorah Gear Exchange is returning later this month, giving outdoor enthusiasts a chance to buy, sell and trade gently used outdoor gear while keeping equipment in circulation and out of landfills. The event will take place at Pulpit Rock Brewing Co., 207 College Drive, on: Saturday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (no early sales) Sunday, Sept. 28, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Whether you're a seasoned paddler, a new hiker or a family looking for affordable ways to outfit your kids, the Gear Exchange is an opportunity to refresh equipment for the season ahead. Sellers may drop off items in Pulpit Rock Brewing Co.'s front event room: Thursday, Sept. 25, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Accepted items include camping gear, bikes, fishing equipment, paddling gear, winter clothing, skis, backpacks, car racks, camp stoves and more. Firearms and weapons will not be accepted. Proceeds benefit Decorah Parks and Recreation, supporting expanded recreational opportunities and resources in the area. "The Decorah Gear Exchange is about building community around outdoor recreation," said Alyssa Ritter of Visit Decorah Tourism. "The event makes it easier for people to try new activities, support sustainability and connect with others who love exploring the Driftless Region."
