WAUKON, Iowa — Bestselling children's author Andrea Beaty will give a presentation and Q&A session followed by a book signing at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Robey Memorial Library, 401 First Ave. NW in Waukon. The free event is sponsored by the Oneota Valley Literary Foundation with support from Robey Memorial Library and Dragonfly Books. It is geared toward children ages 10 and under, but all are welcome. Beaty and illustrator David Roberts are the creators of the No. 1 bestselling books "Rosie Revere, Engineer" and "Ada Twist, Scientist." Their latest picture book, "Billie Jean Peet," tells the story of a middle child in a musical household who struggles to find her niche but ultimately discovers how to embrace her unique talents. Beaty is also the author of the bestselling Questioneers series, as well as "I Love You Like Yellow," "Happy Birthday, Madame Chapeau" and "One Girl." She lives near Chicago. The event is part of Dragonfly Books and the Oneota Valley Literary Foundation's author series, which brings writers of all genres to northeast Iowa for conversations about literature and writing.
