WinnMed Named a 2025 Top Workplace by the Des Moines Register

DECORAH — WinnMed has been named a 2025 Top Workplace by the Des Moines Register, based on results from an employee satisfaction survey comparing businesses across the state. The recognition highlights the health system's workplace culture, staff retention and recent growth. WinnMed has expanded to nearly 650 employees, up from about 500 in 2022, including Mayo Clinic Health System physicians. "This award is a testament to the incredible people who make WinnMed what it is," Chief Administrative Officer Steve Slessor said in a statement. "Since day one, I have been impressed by the caliber of our providers and staff and their ability to work together effectively to better patient care." The organization credits its workforce for both its stability and expansion. Several employees have retired in recent years after more than four decades of service, while new specialties have been added in rheumatology, allergy, OB/GYN, dermatology, wound care and pharmacy. Laurie Bulman, WinnMed's director of human resources, said the honor reflects staff commitment. "We are working hard to create a strong culture that our employees are proud to be part of," she said. The Register's annual Top Workplaces awards are based solely on employee feedback collected through surveys measuring organizational health, culture and engagement.
