Four Decades of Dedication: Tim Deeney Honored for 40 Years at Bruening Rock Products

DECORAH — When Tim Deeney started at Bruening Rock Products, Inc. on May 31, 1985, gasoline cost about $1.20 a gallon, Ronald Reagan was president, and "Back to the Future" had just hit theaters. Forty years later, a lot has changed, but Deeney's dedication to his work and community hasn't. In recognition of his four decades of service, Bruening Rock Products recently honored Deeney with a brand-new pickup truck, a long-standing company tradition reserved for employees who reach the 40-year milestone. Deeney is just the 10th recipient in company history to earn this recognition. Deeney began his career on one of the company's pipe crews, learning the ropes of construction. Around 1990, he became a loader operator at the Busta Quarry, mastering the skill of filling aggregates—sand, gravel and mixed stone—that are essential to Bruening Rock Products' daily work. By 1994 or 1995, he transitioned to the Deerfield Quarry, where he has served as the dedicated loader operator ever since. "We are grateful for his 40 years of service," company leaders said of Deeney's time in the site. Deeney's recognition brought together Greg Bruening, Keith Bruening, Tyler Bruening, and his wife, Carol Deeney, for the presentation of the truck and photos marking the milestone. As the company reflected on Deeney's work history, which spanned from cassettes to smartphones, and from shovels to advanced machinery, the message of the honor was clear: while the "tools of the trade" may have evolved, the foundation of hard work and company loyalty remains unchanging. For Bruening Rock Products, and for those who have worked alongside him, Tim Deeney's 40 years are more than a number, they're proof that some things really are built to last.
