Wellness Weekend in Decorah Showcases Intersection of Business and Healthy Lifestyles

DECORAH — The Decorah Area Chamber has curated a list of opportunities for residents and visitors for the third annual Wellness Weekend. The event celebrates wellness in all its forms Nov. 7-9. The free, three-day, wellness-focused effort encourages businesses and organizations to host or share a wellness activity, product, or service. Individuals can participate at any level that suits them, from scheduling an appointment with a provider, supporting a local eatery that serves heart-healthy meals, or taking a hike on one of the city's park trails, to purchasing items at a small business that supports self-care. "On the heels of Halloween and with the shift for daylight savings, we are moving into a time of shorter days and concerns of winter illness," said Chamber Director Jessica Rilling. "The Chamber's Wellness Weekend is about celebrating how blessed we are with access to healthcare providers, wellness professionals, opportunities for physical activity, and small businesses to support mind, body, and spirit. Our residents lead healthier and happier lives because we have so many choices here, and this dynamic wellness portfolio remains a top community characteristic for businesses doing workforce recruitment." The weekend's largest event is the Winneshiek County Celebration of Life's annual fundraiser at the Hotel Winneshiek on Friday, Nov. 7. The nonprofit raises money for cancer awareness and prevention. For those interested in organized exercise classes or exploring wellness options in town, several businesses are offering special events. DRiFT offers member specials, yoga classes, and hosts a special Fall DRi TRi event. The Well at Crater Fitness hosts a Friday SHiNE Dance Fitness class with Robyn and a Saturday Iron Power class with Annette; each class costs $5 to attend. Salú Sauna + Wellness Studio hosts an open house and invites first-time users to try the private infrared sauna rooms. Oneota Valley Family Eye Care invites visitors to learn about low-level light therapy and explore its benefits for eye health and overall wellness. Chiropractic Offices of Dr. Kelly Reagan welcomes visitors to learn about Foot Levelers orthotics and how they can improve alignment, posture, and whole-body comfort. Westside Dental is offering current patients a sale on the Opalescence GO! teeth whitening system. The collective marketing effort to benefit all wellness businesses is made possible through sponsorship support from DRiFT Strength + Yoga Center, Oneota Valley Family Eye Care, and Kelly Real Estate.
