Know Before You Go: Holiday Lights Walk Through Night Returns for 2025

DECORAH — The one-night-only Holiday Lights Walk-Through Night, sponsored by DECO, is back and scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 26, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Pulpit Rock Campground in Decorah. This is the only night of the Holiday Lights season when visitors can walk through the park instead of driving. Highlights of the evening include photos with Santa, soups, cookies, Pokey Pete (weather permitting), performances by local choirs and a live Nativity scene. New this year: Pulpit Rock Road will be closed to all traffic starting at 4 p.m., improving the overall safety of the event. Parking will be available as usual in the soccer field parking lot, but visitors can only access the lot from Fifth Avenue. Free shuttle buses will be available to transport guests to and from the entrance of the event, or visitors may choose to walk in. Additional parking will be available on the south side of Pulpit Rock Campground via Oneota Drive off Highway 52, leading to the Twin Springs Campground parking lot. Holiday Lights event director Carson Eggland said, "Although we do have tower lights to help illuminate the event area, the safety of visitors and volunteers has been an ongoing point of emphasis. By closing Pulpit Rock Road, we feel the event will be an even better and safer experience for everyone. We are thankful for the partnership of the city and local law enforcement to continue ensuring a safe event for all."
