Decorah Girls Swimming Have 'Excellent Showing' at State Meet in Iowa City

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The Decorah Girls Swimming team had an excellent showing at the State Meet in Iowa City this past weekend. "The team showed up strong and competed against the best in the state this week," said Coach Allie Schultz. The team sent eight events to the meet: 200 Medley Relay: Isabella Sailor, Karly Alstad, Payge Webb, Elizabeth Bucksa—Alternate: Adeline Bollinger 200 Free: Elizabeth Bucksa 200 IM: Jenna Schissel 100 Fly: Payge Webb 500 Free: Elizabeth Bucksa 200 Free Relay: Isabella Sailor, Lauren Luzum, Karly Alstad, Jenna Schissel—Alternate: Britlyn Boyer 100 Breast: Jenna Schissel, Karly Alstad 400 Free Relay: Elizabeth Bucksa, Lauren Luzum, Payge Webb, Jenna Schissel—Alternate: Kate Pattison "Every athlete placed higher than their original seed and achieved personal best times in all final events," said Coach Schultz. "I could not be prouder of this team." Notable finishes at state include the 200 Medley Relay, which placed 13th out of 32 teams with a time of 153.05 and the 400 Free Relay, which finished 14th out of 32 teams with a time of 3:43.91 (two seconds faster than their seed time). In addition, Elizabeth Bucksa finished ninth in the 500 Free with a time of 5:12.90 (nearly two seconds faster than her prelim time of 5:14.78). Coach Schultz was thrilled with the season.
