Annual Decorah Area Community Thanksgiving Dinner Set for Nov. 27

DECORAH — The Annual Decorah Area Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held Thursday, Nov. 27, at noon at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 307 W. Main St. The community is invited to gather, give thanks, and share a meal in celebration of the holiday. The dinner, co-hosted by St. Benedict Catholic Church and Decorah First United Methodist Church (FUMC), will feature a traditional Thanksgiving menu including turkey, dressing, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberries, dinner rolls and pie. Guests attending the sit-down meal are warmly encouraged to bring a favorite family dish to share. For those unable to attend in person, meal delivery or pick-up is available. To request either option, call FUMC at their new number, 563-277-1184. Home meal deliveries will begin at 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day, and meal pick-ups will be available at 1 p.m. Volunteers are needed to help with meal preparation and service. Volunteer opportunities include: Wednesday, Nov. 26 10 a.m.: Potato peeling at Decorah First United Methodist Church Noon: Turkey deboning at the Luther College kitchen, located next to the cafeteria in the Student Union Thursday, Nov. 27 Beginning at 8 a.m.: Dining room setup, food preparation and service, delivery line assistance, home meal delivery, and cleanup at St. Benedict Catholic Church Volunteers may simply show up to assist, but those with questions can call 563-419-1496 for more details. The organizers are also requesting pie donations. Pies may be dropped off in the kitchen at St. Benedict Catholic Church beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
