New Permanent Cosmetics Studio Celebrates Grand Opening in Decorah

On Point Permanent Cosmetics celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting at 222 West Water Street, joined by Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, friends, family, and supporters. Owner and artist Angie Stapelkamp welcomed the community into her new studio, marking the launch of a business she believes fills a unique need in Decorah and the surrounding area. Stapelkamp is a certified and licensed permanent makeup and scalp micropigmentation artist, offering services such as ombre powder brows, microblading with shading, eyeliner, lip blushing, and scalp micropigmentation designed to mimic natural hair follicles. Clients seek out permanent cosmetics for a variety of reasons, Stapelkamp said. For some, it's about convenience and a faster morning routine. For others, it's a way to continue highlighting their features when shaky hands or hair loss make traditional makeup more challenging. "The greatest joy has been serving clients with medical needs and sharing in the joy they feel to have this life-changing service," Stapelkamp said. "I'm glad to be here." Permanent cosmetics, like any tattooing, fade over time due to factors such as sun exposure, skin type, and lifestyle. Stapelkamp explained that some clients return for touch-ups or pigment boosts, while others come back to try additional services. She expects word of mouth, social media, and repeat visits to be the primary drivers of business. The response so far has been strong. Stapelkamp said she is almost fully booked through February and is looking forward to expanding both her certifications and services as the business becomes established. Chamber Ambassadors on hand for the ribbon cutting included Adam Baker, Brittany Todd, Rachael Palmer, Maureen Duncklee, Heather Benzing, Zachary Shearer and Tade Kerndt, with coordination by Chamber Executive Director Jessica Rilling.
