Nordic Fest Invites Community Members to Help Shape the Future of the Festival

DECORAH — As planning continues for the 59th annual Nordic Fest, organizers are looking to add up to five new members to serve alongside a dedicated team of volunteers who guide the festival year-round. Board service offers a way to give back while building connections, learning new skills, and supporting the community spirit that defines Nordic Fest. "Nordic Fest exists because people step up and say yes," said 2026 Nordic Fest President Sarah Brandt. "If you've ever felt proud walking Water Street during the festival, enjoyed watching kids experience it for the first time, or appreciated the volunteers who make it all run smoothly, this is your chance to be part of that story." No prior board experience is required. Board members generally serve three-year terms and are supported by experienced leadership. Whether you're new to the festival or have attended for years, your perspective and enthusiasm are valued. Board members oversee a specific area or committee, either independently or as part of a small team, helping guide both annual festival planning and the organization's long-term vision. Nordic Fest is especially seeking individuals interested in helping lead: Physical Management – working with a small team to coordinate festival infrastructure, logistics, and on-site setup and teardown. Children's Activities – creating joyful, memorable experiences for kids and families that make Nordic Fest welcoming for all ages.
