Waterloo Man Sentenced, Plans to File Appeal in Winneshiek County Sexual Abuse Case

WINNESHIEK COUNTY, Iowa — A 19-year-old man, convicted of multiple counts of second-degree sexual abuse involving children has filed an appeal after being sentenced earlier this month in Winneshiek County District Court. In January of 2025, Isaiah Yos-Eddy, then 18 and living at a Waterloo address, turned himself in to the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office on an arrest warrant and was booked into the Winneshiek County Jail. Authorities charged him with eight counts of felony sexual abuse involving children under age 12. Court documents indicate the case is believed to involve three victims. Guilty plea and sentencing On Feb. 10, 2026, Yos-Eddy pleaded guilty to eight counts of second-degree sexual abuse. The offenses are believed to have occurred between Jan. 1, 2022, and Nov. 30, 2023, according to court records. The court sentenced him to prison terms of up to 25 years on each count, to be served concurrently. The sentence was not suspended, and he was committed to the custody of the Iowa Department of Corrections. Additional penalties include lifetime sex offender registration, a special lifetime sentence under supervision following release, DNA profiling, and restitution obligations. Appeal filed On Feb. 13, 2026, Yos-Eddy shared written intent to appeal, alleging abuse of discretion by the district court in imposing the sentence. He also requested court-appointed appellate counsel, stating he is indigent and cannot afford legal representation. If approved, appellate counsel will represent him in proceedings before the Iowa Supreme Court, which handles criminal appeals in Iowa.
