NEICAC Highlights Meal Reimbursement Program for In-Home Child Care Providers

DECORAH — In-home child care providers in northeast Iowa may qualify for federal reimbursement for meals served to children through the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). The program helps licensed child development home providers offset the cost of serving nutritious meals and snacks. CACFP is administered nationally by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and in Iowa by the Iowa Department of Education. Locally, providers can participate through the Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation. Providers in the program are reimbursed for meals served to children enrolled in their child care homes. In accordance with federal regulations, meals must be available to all enrolled participants with no separate charge. Interested providers are encouraged to contact NEICAC to learn more about participation. The program is an equal opportunity provider and prohibits discrimination based on race, color, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or retaliation for prior civil rights activity. Program information is available in languages other than English, and alternative communication methods are available for individuals with disabilities. Complaints of discrimination may be filed with the USDA. Iowa policy also prohibits discrimination in child nutrition programs on similar grounds.
