The Highlands to Host Dedication and Open House for New Nursing Home in Decorah

DECORAH, Iowa — The Highlands, an Aase Haugen Community, invites the public to celebrate the completion of its new nursing home with a dedication and open house event on Wednesday, April 8. Community members, families, donors and partners are encouraged to attend and experience the new space designed to serve the evolving needs of the Decorah area. The event will also commemorate the birthday of founder Aase Haugen, who immigrated from Norway to the United States at age 13. The open house will begin with a Chamber ribbon-cutting at 3 p.m., followed by a dedication and blessing ceremony at 4 p.m. Tours will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and will showcase the thoughtfully designed living spaces, as well as the services and care available to residents. "The new building reflects a commitment to comfort, dignity and connection, with modern amenities and a welcoming, homelike environment," said Rex Nelson, administrator of The Highlands. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet staff, ask questions and see firsthand how The Highlands is creating "a new place to call home." The event will also recognize and thank the many donors, churches and community members whose generosity helped make the project possible. "This new facility represents our continued commitment to providing exceptional care while honoring the legacy of Aase Haugen Homes," said Sam Boeke, executive director.
