DuTrac Community Credit Union Launches 3rd Annual Diaper Drive to Support Local Families

DECORAH — DuTrac Community Credit Union announced it will host its 3rd Annual Diaper Drive throughout the month of May 2026, aiming to collect 15,000 diapers to help address diaper insecurity among families in need. Donations collected at all DuTrac branch locations will directly benefit local families through partnerships with United Way of Dubuque Area Tri-States and Hiney Heroes of the Quad Cities. All contributions will remain within the communities where they are donated, ensuring support reaches families close to home. In Decorah, diapers donated at the DuTrac branch will be distributed locally through the Northeast Iowa Community Action Corporation. "Diapers are one of the most requested but least donated items for families with young children, and they aren't covered by most government assistance programs," said Andy Hawkinson, President and CEO of DuTrac Community Credit Union. "That's why our communities coming together through this Diaper Drive can make such a meaningful difference for local families." The 2026 goal reflects growing community engagement. In 2025, DuTrac set a goal of 7,500 diapers but exceeded expectations by collecting 12,424 diapers across its 15 branches. Of those, 157 diapers were donated at the Decorah branch during its first year participating in the drive. "We count individual diapers rather than boxes, as some donors choose to give partially used packages in sizes their children have outgrown," said Sherrie Keating, Community Outreach Representative at DuTrac. "We love being able to make use of this valuable resource." The Decorah branch will again serve as a collection site for both physical diaper donations and monetary contributions. "As 2025 marked Decorah's first year taking part, we are thrilled by the community's response," said Keating. "With the support of local media promotions, we anticipate collecting even more diapers this year." Community members are encouraged to donate diapers of any size or make a monetary contribution to Venmo @DuTrac-CommunityCreditUnion or at any DuTrac branch location during the month of May. Early momentum is already building, with one local member already dropping off multiple boxes of diapers ahead of the May 1 kickoff.
