DECORAH — Friends of the Decorah Public Library invite community members to their annual Friends Gathering on Monday, April 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Landing Market in Decorah. The free event offers an opportunity for community members to connect with fellow library supporters, learn more about the impact of Decorah Public Library, and explore ways to help ensure the library continues to thrive. The evening will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m., giving attendees time to mingle and reconnect with friends and neighbors who share an appreciation for the library. Light snacks will be provided, and library-themed cocktails will be available for purchase. At 7 p.m., Decorah Public Library staff and Friends board members will give a brief presentation on the library's impact in the community and how it continues to serve people of all ages. The presentation will include a question-and-answer session and a lighthearted library trivia game, offering attendees a chance to test their knowledge and win small prizes. Following the program, guests are encouraged to stay and continue the conversation with fellow supporters. "Our library is one of the most vibrant community spaces in Winneshiek County," said Alan Ellickson, president of Friends of the Decorah Public Library. "This event is a chance to celebrate that together and welcome new people into the community of library supporters." Community members are encouraged to bring a friend who may be less familiar with the library to learn more about the many ways Decorah Public Library enriches the community and how residents can support it.
