Decorah Lasagna Poisoning Case Advances as Both Defendants Plead Not Guilty

DECORAH — Both individuals charged in connection with a lasagna allegedly laced with a controlled substance have pleaded not guilty. A trial date has been set for the defendants Amber Dena Snow, 36, of Decorah, entered a not guilty plea March 23 in Winneshiek County District Court, according to court records. Her trial is scheduled for June 10, 2026, at 9 a.m. Snow faces multiple charges stemming from the alleged December 2025 incident, including a Class C felony count of conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance and several Class D felony counts related to conspiracy and alleged attempted nonconsensual termination of a pregnancy. She is also charged with aggravated misdemeanor child endangerment. Court records show the trial information against Snow was filed March 23. She is represented by attorney Whitney Gessner. Assistant Winneshiek County Attorney Andrew F. Van Der Maaten is prosecuting the case. Matthew Louis Uthoff, 35, of Decorah, who was arrested March 26 in connection with the same investigation, pleaded not guilty April 8, according to court records. A jury trial for Uthoff is scheduled for June 10, 2026, at 9 a.m. He faces similar charges, including delivery of a controlled substance, administering a harmful substance and child endangerment. Both Snow and Uthoff remain in the Winneshiek County Jail on $100,000 cash-only bonds. Authorities say the two conspired to lace a family-size pan of lasagna with oxycodone and deliver it to another family Dec. 28, 2025.
