Classic Cars, Big Crowds Set for Cops n' Rodders in Decorah

DECORAH — The fifth annual Cops n' Rodders Car and Motorcycle Show will be held Saturday, May 16, in downtown Decorah from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event, which brings more than 100 classic and unique cars to town, will fill Water Street from the intersection of State Street to River Street. The show is hosted by the Decorah Police Department in partnership with the Decorah Elks Club Lodge 443. The event is free to attend. Proceeds and donations will be directed to Iowa Concerns of Police Survivors. Participant registration will be located at the intersection of Water and Winnebago streets and will be facilitated by Elks Lodge volunteers and others. The cost is $10 per vehicle. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and remains open until 11 a.m. No pre-registration is required. Trophies will be awarded at 12:30 p.m. at the Water and Winnebago intersection. Judges will present awards for Ladies' Choice, Cops' Choice and Judges' Choice. Decorah Police Chief Tricia Thein encouraged residents and visitors to attend. "It's great to hear from the owners who have worked hard to restore and preserve these cars and bikes," Thein said. "We are pleased to have event proceeds and donations go to Iowa C.O.P.S., a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families and co-workers of fallen officers in Iowa rebuild their lives through peer support, counseling, retreats and remembrance."
