Woman Arrested After Deputies Respond to Report of Person With Chainsaw; THC Found in Search

The following arrests were reported by the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, Apr. 21, 2026 IRENE ARCHER, 38, of Calmar, turned herself in April 1 to the Winneshiek County Jail on a warrant for violation of probation, according to the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office. Authorities said Archer was later charged April 7 with D felony possession of contraband in a correctional institution while still incarcerated. DEREK FACTOR, 29 of Charles City, was transported from the Floyd County Jail and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail on April 15 on a warrant for violation of probation, according to the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office. HERSON SAGCHE COYAN, 29, of Postville, was transported from Allamakee County and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail on April 19 on a warrant for violation of probation, according to the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office. NICOLE BENSER, 38, of Farmersburg, was arrested April 17 after deputies responded to a report of a person walking through wooded property with a chainsaw near 380th Street and North Bear Road, according to the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office. Authorities said a property owner called 911, and deputies initiated an investigation. A K9 unit was deployed during the response, and suspected narcotics were located. According to a criminal complaint obtained by DecorahNews.com, deputies conducted a probable cause search of a vehicle Benser reportedly said had a dead battery. During the search, two THC cartridges and a gummy believed to contain THC were found inside a black backpack. The complaint states Benser reportedly acknowledged the backpack belonged to her and said she had obtained the THC products in Minnesota. An additional THC cartridge was located on the rear passenger floorboard and was also seized. Two of the three cartridges field-tested positive for THC. Benser was charged with serious misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and trespassing and transported to the Winneshiek County Jail. Fresh stories, delivered!
