Luther College Community Invited to Celebrate Bradley Phillips' Retirement After 37 Years

DECORAH — After 37 years of service at Luther College, Bradley Phillips will retire from his role as assistant director for programming and outreach and longtime manager of the Luther College Box Office. A public retirement reception honoring Phillips will be held Friday, May 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the front lobby of the Center for Faith and Life. The event will include drinks, light hors d'oeuvres and music from Beautiful Mess, Undeclared and Uptempo. The gathering was scheduled before finals week and summer break so students could celebrate with Phillips before leaving campus. Phillips began his career at Luther as a hall director before later becoming a familiar face at the ticket office in the Center for Faith and Life. Over nearly four decades, he became known among students, alumni and staff for creating a welcoming and supportive environment. Phillips' work continued during the COVID-19 pandemic, when he continued reporting to campus and helped transport students who tested positive for the virus to local motels for quarantine. Beyond his formal roles at the college, Phillips frequently volunteered his time supporting student organizations and campus fundraisers, according to the letter. Lori Phillips said he participated in activities ranging from judging events to dancing and running in support of student-led causes, while also working nights and raising three sons who later graduated from Luther.
