Local Cub Scouts Celebrate Advancement at Blue and Gold Banque

Our Driftless region deserves more than postcards — it deserves a watchdog. Be that support. Families, friends and community members gathered Saturday evening at the VFW Hall for the annual Blue and Gold Banquet hosted by local Cub Scout Pack 3067. The family-friendly event celebrated the accomplishments and growth of the pack's 13 enrolled scouts and recognized their advancement to the next level in scouting. During the ceremony, scouts were awarded new neckerchiefs to mark their advancement and continued progress within the Cub Scout program. The banquet highlighted the hard work, leadership and dedication shown by scouts throughout the year. The local Cub Scout pack continues to grow under the leadership of Cubmaster Ben Hanson and District Commissioner Greg Armstrong, who work to create opportunities for youth to build leadership skills, confidence, teamwork and community involvement. "'Do a Good Turn Daily' is something our scouts talk about throughout the entire year. We try to emphasize the importance of helping others," Hanson said. He added, "Our pack is like a family, and we are incredibly thankful for the families who support our scouts and our program. If we don't have families involved, we don't have a pack. I truly appreciate the parents who support what we are doing and the commitment they've made to their scouts and to being part of this organization." Families attending the event also heard from Zack Brunkhorst, district executive representing the Winnebago Council, who shared information about summer camp opportunities and ways scouts and families can stay active and engaged throughout the summer months. Cub Scouts is open to children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Scouts currently meet once each month, with additional activities, service projects and events planned throughout the year.
